Jamaican Mango & Lime® FAQ

Do you have any products that help with itch, irritation or dryness?

We recommend our Jamaican Mango & Lime® NO MORE ITCH GRO SPRAY for minor itching and dry scalp. If irritation is more frequent, try Jamaican Mango & Lime® NO MORE ITCH MENTHOLATED GRO SPRAY. This will help moisturize and soothe your itchy dry scalp, while helping to prevent breakage. To seal in the moisture, lightly coat the scalp with Jamaican Mango & Lime® ISLAND OIL.

Can I use Jamaican Mango & Lime® MANGO & SHEA BUTTER LOTION on my hair?

Our lotion is designed to specifically moisturize your body. It should not be used on hair.

How often should I shampoo and condition my locs?

We recommend washing your locs with Jamaican Mango & Lime® TINGLE SHAMPOO and PROTEIN CONDITIONER approximately every 2-4 weeks. It may be more beneficial to allow new hair growth to mature before washing.

How can I prevent buildup?

You can minimize build-up by choosing quality products to effectively cleanse the hair and scalp without stripping the hair’s essential moisture each time you shampoo your hair. For a fresh and clean feel in between shampoos, we recommend using Jamaican Mango & Lime® HAIR N’ CENSE spray.

Can locs cause balding?

On their own, locs have not been proven to cause balding or hair thinness. Speaking with a professional Loctician is always recommended to assist with growing and managing your locs.

What products should I use to start my locs?

For coarser hair, we recommend using Jamaican Mango & Lime® RESISTANT FORMULA LOCKING GEL. All other hair textures can begin with Jamaican Mango & Lime® LOCK & SET STYLING LOTION & Jamaican Mango & Lime® LOCKING GEL.

How often should I re-twist my hair?

Depending on the rate of your hair growth, re-twist approximately every four weeks. When re-twisting your hair, always make sure your hair is moist. Use Jamaican Mango & Lime® LOCKING CRÈME WAX to help incorporate new growth into your locs. Jamaican Mango & Lime® LOCKING FIRM WAX is recommended for coarser hair.

If I cut my locs, will they unravel?

No, locs are sections of matted hair and will not unravel if they’re cut or trimmed.

Can I remove locs?

Yes, locs can be taken out. Be advised, the process is tedious and time-consuming. Locs are formed when hair is matted together, so it may be very challenging to unravel locs. Many have chosen to do the “Big Chop” in order to start over. Seek the advice of a Loctician to learn the options of loc removal.

What type of products should I use for daily loc maintenance?

Jamaican Mango & Lime® has many products for daily loc maintenance. Jamaican Mango & Lime® LOCK GRO is a stimulating scalp treatment that revitalizes hair follicles. Jamaican Mango & Lime® ISLAND OIL is a blend of essential oils with an applicator nozzle that allows you to apply the oil to tight areas to help provide nourishment to the scalp. Jamaican Mango & Lime® SPROIL SPRAY strengthens, protects and conditions locs. Jamaican Mango & Lime® SHEA BUTTER CONDITIONING SHINE protects and gives hair a radiant shine.

How long does my hair have to be to start locs?

Depending on your hair texture, generally 3 to 5 inches.

What other ways can the Jamaican Mango & Lime® products be used for?
